Personalised Pearls
Australian Vogueโs recent article Are personalised pearls the next frontier in jewellery? said that thanks to fast-fashion and microtrends obliterating the 20-year trend cycle, people will be giving a big โno thank youโ to trends and embracing personalisation more than ever. Is this a trend itself? Depends on how long it lasts, I say. But if youโre searching for the perfect gift for your fashionista Valentine, why not go Vogue? Australian small sustainable designer, Holly Ryan does โmisshapenโ pearls like no other. Literally. Misshapen,or Baroque pearls, have been cast aside for their imperfections by our grandmothersโ generation, but Ryan embraces that each piece is unique. โThese are real,โ says the designer. โJust like we are.โ

Teva x Black Rainbow
In a 2019 online forum chain titled How gay are Teva’s these days? keyboard warriors debated whether the adventure footwear Teva sandals are exclusively worn by the LGBTIQ+ community, and whether a straight man would be mistaken as such if he were to sport a pair. Well, guess what, nerds? Teva is out and proud supporting the queer community. On 3 February, they launch their Pride Sandals in partnership with Black Rainbow, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander non-profit, focused on LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing. Donating $5,000 and forming a new initiative, the Outdoor Fund, Teva and Black Rainbow will invest directly in three indigenous LGBTIQ+ individuals supporting them to excel in outdoor fields like sports, environmental regeneration, and outdoor teachings. Fabulous!
