Yarrh Wines expands cellar door offerings

As Canberra slowly begins to come to life once more, winter ends and COVID-19 restrictions gradually ease, local businesses are piloting new ways to better engage with customers and provide unique experiences.

One of those businesses is Murrumbateman winery Yarrh Wines, launching their “new and improved” cellar door and wine tasting experience this week.

From guided tours to just a glass of wine while taking in the view, there will be something for everyone.

Owners and winemakers Fiona Wholohan and Neil McGregor say they saw the lockdown period as a chance to take a “short sabbatical” to assess how they could offer new ways for their customers to engage with Yarrh and learn about the growing and winemaking process, while still adhering to social distancing requirements.

“More and more, wine lovers are looking for a deeper engagement with their producers,” Neil says.

“We’d like new customers to get a better understanding of what we do, how we do it and even a little of why we do it, while also accommodating our regulars who want to simply taste the latest releases and make their selections.”

From guided tours of the vineyard to a glass of vino at the bar, Fiona and Neil say the new offering will have a little something for everyone.

Take the ‘Wine Flight’ for a selection of wines to enjoy while taking in the views of the vines and the Yass Valley River, or try the ‘Winemaker’s Sail’ if you’d like your curated selection of wines paired with gourmet meals prepared with local produce.

“Tasting the wines grown here adds a timeless feeling of immersion in the landscape,” Fiona says.

“To know what this block can produce, and its unique nuances, makes a visit truly memorable.

“As producers, we have visited a range of remarkable regions and wineries across Australia and the world, and we know how profoundly meaningful it can be to find a wine you love in a place you love. We aspire to provide the same to others.”

The new cellar door is open Friday-Sunday, bookings can be made via the Yarrh Wines website.
