20-year-old Harrison man charged with child abuse offences

A 20-year-old Harrison man has been charged with child abuse offences following a police operation on Wednesday, 17 November.  

Members of the ACT Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET), assisted by members from Criminal Investigations, the AFP Victim Identification Team and a specialist canine technology detection dog executed a search warrant at a Harrison residence.  

Two laptop computers and two mobile phones that contained child abuse material were seized during the warrant. 

The 20-year-old man was subsequently arrested and has been charged with producing child abuse material, possessing child abuse material and transmitting child abuse material. He has been bailed to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on 16 February 2022.  

Conviction of these charges is punishable by a maximum term of imprisonment of 15 years.
