Three sports duffel bags stuffed with $30 million worth of methylamphetamine have been seized by NSW Police investigating a cross-border drug syndicate.

Earlier this month, a 17-year-old was arrested during a vehicle stop in Queensland as part of the investigation. He was charged and remains before the courts.

Ongoing investigations led police from the NSW State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad and the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command to stop a Hyundai Santa Fe on the Pacific Highway at Nabiac on the NSW mid north coast about 10.30pm on Monday. 

The three bags containing approximately 20 kilograms of a crystallised substance, believed to be methylamphetamine, with an estimated potential street value of $30 million were found inside the vehicle.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Forster Police Station.

A search warrant was later executed at a unit in Bankstown in Sydney’s west.

During the search officers located and seized about $138,000 in cash, a luxury watch and drug paraphernalia.

The man has been charged with two counts of supplying large commercial quantities of a prohibited drug and one count of knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Taree Local Court later on Tuesday where he was formally bail refused to reappear at the same court on Wednesday June 21.
