Man charged with attempted murder after incident in Turner

Today, 11 April, a 39-year-old man appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court, facing charges of attempted murder.

The charges stem from an incident at approximately 9:40 pm on Monday 25 March, when police claim the man engaged in a physical altercation at a Turner residence.

According to allegations, the 39-year-old assaulted another individual, then escalated the confrontation by drawing a kitchen knife. He reportedly attempted to stab the man while issuing death threats, before fleeing the scene on foot shortly after.

The altercation resulted in the victim sustaining a stab wound to the hand—incurred while defending himself—along with facial and head injuries from soft tissue damage.

Following the incident, police launched an investigation and made several attempts to apprehend the suspect.

His arrest came on Wednesday, 10 April around 12:20 pm, at an Oaks Estate residence.

The charges laid against him include one count of attempted murder and one count of common assault.
