A 3.9 magnitude earthquake has struck near Goulburn this morning, according to Geoscience Australia.

The earthquake was recorded at 6:41am this morning, 23 May, with almost 400 people having reported feeling the impact by 9am.

A number of residents in Canberra reported feeling the earthquake, as well as people in Crookwell, Boorowa and Mittagong.

A 3.9 magnitude earthquake is considered ‘minor’ on the Richter scale, so it is very unlikely to cause much damage. Between 12,000 and 100,000 of these minor earthquakes are registered every year, according to Britannica.
