Drug driver travelling double the speed limit

A 37-year-old woman is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 7 April, for drug driving and high range speeding offences.

About 11.20pm yesterday, Monday 6 April, police were conducting speed checks of vehicles travelling north on Caswell Drive in Aranda when they detected a black coloured SUV travelling 122km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Police stopped the car a short time later on Hayden Drive in Bruce. The driver underwent a roadside drug screening test and returned a positive result.

The woman was taken to Belconnen Police Station and underwent further testing and returned a positive result to a prescribed drug.

The 37 year-old is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and driving with a prescribed drug.
