MBE Canberra a 26-year Manuka institution

Marilyn and Arthur Gray have tirelessly run MBE Canberra for the past 26 years, establishing themselves as stalwarts of the Manuka community.

Specialising in printing, copying courier, and mailbox rental services, their business caters predominantly to Canberra’s business and government sectors, but maintain worldwide clientele too.

Over 100 clients utilise their mailbox service, with a diverse range of clients ranging from international business people through to local government.

In addition to their 24-hour mailbox facility, MBE Manuka offer a diverse range of services including printing and copying flyers, books, and manuals as well as being agents for domestic and overseas freight.

As trusted faces within the Manuka business community, Marilyn and Arthur Gray put their longevity down to exceptional customer service.

“You’ve got to have the right attitude with people,” Marilyn said. “We’ve done a lot of our work over the years through recommendation.

“It doesn’t matter whether someone comes and gets two photocopies or spends $1,000, you still have to give them the right amount of attention.”

“You’ve got to be part of your customer’s business, and that’s what we’ve always tried to do,” Arthur added.

Part of a network of over 2,600 service centres globally, Marilyn and Arthur were recently acknowledged with two awards.

One for 25 years as part of the MBE network, and the other for being the 2020 top NSW/ACT franchise.

Marilyn took pride in both awards and was humbled by being voted top franchise by her peers.

“It’s all based on what you’re doing and how you support other people in your own network,” she said.

MBE Canberra is now in its second Manuka location after relocating last year during the pandemic.

As active members in the Manuka Business Association, Marilyn and Arthur both take great pride in the “village atmosphere” that encompasses its businesses.

“Everyone’s running their own business here and it’s a bit different to being in a big shopping centre,” Marilyn said.

“It’s got a great village atmosphere here and people do try to support one another.

“We have tried to blend in and build our business in the Manuka community, which means we’re here for the longevity and supporting other people, so, in turn, they support you.”
