Man charged with arson after O’Connor house fire

A 35-year-old man has been charged with arson following a house fire in O’Connor early Saturday morning, 14 August.

About 12.05am police attended a unit in O’Connor following reports a residence was well alight.

The fire was extinguished by ACT Fire & Rescue and several people who were observing the fire were treated for smoke inhalation by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics. No one was inside at the time of the fire.

The man will face a bedside hearing this morning where police will oppose bail.
