Free virtual ‘mental fitness’ bootcamp to combat pandemic fatigue

A virtual ‘mental fitness’ bootcamp is launching this Sunday to help combat pandemic fatigue and strengthen mental health during these challenging times.

Toyota has teamed up with world champion athlete ambassadors Jess Fox and Ryley Batt with the help of The Broad Place meditation studio to create this mental fitness gym class.

Jess Fox, at only 25, is regarded as the most successful paddler in history and won both a gold and bronze medal during the Tokyo Olympics this year.

Ryley Batt is one of the greatest wheelchair rugby players, earning two gold medals and a silver medal over four Paralympic Games.

Hosting the two Olympians is the The Broad Place, which is one of Australia’s leading meditation studios that offer tips on how to de-stress, find clarity and improve clients’ overall wellbeing in daily life.

The Broad Place founder Jacqui Lewis says mental fitness is equally as important as physical fitness.

“Similar to how people make a daily effort to take care of their body, mental fitness is just as important,” Ms Lewis says.

“Our experienced instructor will run through a mind optimising meditation, a brain warm-up and mind exercises, and participants will feel grounded, filled with clarity and leave with boosted energy.”

Toyota’s chief marketing officer John Pappas says the company has a long history of supporting athletes in sports and is committed to unlocking human potential through the power of movement.

He says the company is now committed to helping everyday active Aussies to accelerate in life by challenging themselves mentally.

The classes are free and will be running this Sunday 29 August over four sessions between 9am and 12pm via Zoom.
