Giants to play Magpies and Swans in AFL pre-season

The GWS Giants will prepare for the 2022 AFL season with matches against the Collingwood Magpies and Sydney Swans during the pre-season.

The AFL announced the full pre-season schedule today, with each team to play one match in the AAMI Community Series in early March. The other practice game will be on either of the last two weekends in February with clubs to decide on venue, time, date and the format for each match, including number of players, number of quarters and quarter length.

GWS take on Collingwood at Giants Stadium on Sunday 6 March with the date for their practice match against the Swans to be determined.

The Giants also take on the Swans in round one of the AFL season at Accor Stadium Australia on Saturday 19 March at 5.10pm

Hawthorn and Richmond their pre-season match in the north-west Tasmania on Saturday 5 March, in a tribute match for the families and communities of Hillcrest Primary School following the jumping castle tragedy last week.
