Zest: Dance for Wellbeing classes resuming this month

The ACT is one of the first jurisdictions in Australia to provide Dance for Wellbeing programs, catering for seniors, and for people with Parkinson’s, Dementia, and other physical and neurological conditions.

Operating since 2013, it is now known as ZEST: Dance for Wellbeing, and is managed by a highly skilled and experienced team of well-known ACT dance artists, Jacqui Simmonds, Jane Ingall, Debora di Centa and Philip Piggin.

With lockdown, the program rapidly went online, maintaining the all-important weekly workout for participants’ brain and body, and connection to each other.

The team was enormously impressed with the rapid engagement with the technology required to join, but ACT seniors smashed it!

However we are now returning to the studio, to connect in real time and space, Covid safe of course!

ZEST: Dance for Wellbeing programs will resume again this year at Belconnen & Tuggeranong Arts Centre, from March.

Classes cater for all levels of mobility, ability and experience, commencing on Tuesdays @ BAC 1.15 – 2.30pm, Wednesdays @ TAC 11.15 – 12.30pm, and Fridays @ BAC 12 – 1pm.

All these details and more are on the ZEST website –  https://zestdwb.blogspot.com

There is no need to pre-book class attendance –  just turn up and enjoy!  Classes cost $12 each, or $50 for the 5 week term. (Cash payments only in class please.)

All participants are reminded to follow all required health protocols – including sanitising hands before and after class, keeping 1.5m from your fellow dancers, and staying home if you feel unwell.
