ACT and NSW police investigating 2008 disappearance of Laura Haworth

ACT Policing and the NSW Police Force are investigating the disappearance of Laura Haworth in 2008, amid fears that she was killed.

Laura was last seen in Collett Street, Queanbeyan, NSW on Saturday 5 January 2008. Her car, a red Mazda 121, was later found in Reid, ACT.

Police have received information that led them to suspect she met with foul play about that time.

ACT Policing Detective Acting Inspector Adam Rhynehart urged anyone with any information – no matter how small it may seem – to contact Crime Stoppers.

“We’re hoping that highlighting Laura’s case as part of National Missing Persons Week will encourage someone out there to come forward and help us find out what happened to her,” Rhynehart said.

“Laura’s been missing for 16 years; that’s 16 long years her family have been living without answers.”

NSW Police Detective Chief Inspector Neil Grey hopes this appeal will shake loose some memories from those who saw Laura at the time of her disappearance.

“All missing persons deserve to be found; we hope this appeal will provide Laura’s family some long awaited answers” Grey said.

“We are urging anyone with any information to reach out to police. No matter how insignificant you think that information may be, it may be the piece of puzzle we have been searching for.”

In January, Laura’s family made a plea for information surrounding her sudden disappearance.

“Laura is a mother, a daughter, a sister and a friend and we ache to know what has happened to her,” they said.

“Every day we live with what ifs, whys, and maybes. The pain of not knowing what has happened to Laura is brutal and has a huge impact on our daily lives.

“Laura we love you and miss you. You have a loving family waiting for news, please, please be in touch.”

Anyone with information about Laura’s disappearance should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can be provided anonymously.
