ACT Policing is urging road users to exercise extra caution on the roads with a strong cold front, including thunderstorms, high winds and possible snow, forecast to push through the Canberra region late Monday night.Â

Snowfalls are expected down to 1000m late on Monday and Tuesday. In similar conditions in the past, drivers have required the assistance of emergency services in areas of the Brindabella Mountains, when they have become stuck following early season snowfalls.
ACT Policing is reminding drivers that snowy conditions will make it harder to control their vehicles, and urge locals to consider plans to travel to these areas to view snow falls.Â
Police also remind motorists that while seeing snow in person can be a fun and exciting experience, driving in snowy conditions can be dangerous even for experienced drivers.
When you head to the snow ill-equipped you put yourself and other road users at risk and can put undue pressure on emergency services, police say.Â
