ACT records COVID spike with 946 new cases

The ACT has recorded no new deaths and 946 new COVID cases in the latest update, the highest daily infection tally in over a month.

The number of infections is an increase of 363 on yesterday’s tally and the most since 19 January.

Of the new cases, 570 are from RATs and 376 from PCR tests.

46,591 total COVID cases have now been recorded in the ACT with 33 virus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic.

There are 3,185 active COVID-19 cases in Canberra.

There are currently 40 people in hospital with the virus, two are in intensive care and none require ventilation.

65.8 per cent of ACT residents aged over 16 have received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 77.7 per cent of children aged between 5 and 11 have received one dose.

The news comes as the ACT Government announced that mandatory face mask requirements will be eased on Friday 25 February at 6pm.
