Bin collections to be disrupted on Monday

Bin collections will be disrupted for some Canberra suburbs on Monday 2 November.

Due to industrial action by drivers employed by collection contractor Suez, household waste and recycling kerbside bin collections will be impacted in a number of southside suburbs.

Waste collections in Chapman, Coombs, Curtin, Denman Prospect, Duffy, Fisher, Holder, Rivett, Stirling, Uriarra Village, Waramanga, Weston, Wright and Yarralumla will be affected.

Waste and recycling collection disruptions will occur in Chifley, Farrer, Greenway, Kambah, Lyons, Mawson, Oxley, Pearce, and Torrens.

To avoid disruptions to other suburbs, missed bin collections will not be caught up.

Between Sunday 31 October and Sunday 8 November, up to three garbage bags’ worth of excess household waste can be dropped off for free at temporary locations in Waramanga, Kambah, Gowrie and Weston, or at the Resource Manage Centres in Symonston and Mitchell.

Proof of ID will be required to drop off rubbish, to prove the resident is from a suburb where scheduled bin collections will be affected.

Recyclable materials can be dropped off for free at ACT Government Recycling Drop Off Centres.

The ACT Government says it will keep the community informed of the industrial action, including any impact to residents and alternative disposal options.

Green waste, bulky waste and wheeled bin assistance services will be unaffected and continue as normal. For more information visit the City Services website.
