Blumers Lawyers profile: Chris Gribble

With over a decade of practice under his belt, senior solicitor Chris Gribble is a heavy hitter in developing case strategies for clients to achieve the best possible results out of life’s most challenging times.

One of a few born-and-bred Canberrans at the firm, Chris had known of Blumers Personal Injury Lawyers for years as an institution around town before coming on board.

“I had always wanted to help people, and practising law was an attractive way to do that,” says Chris.

“Blumers seemed like an institution that was working for the people, and they started as a boutique firm making a difference. They were really getting in there to practise law outside of the big machine corporations.

“When I first met Mark and Noor [Blumer], they were friendly, welcoming, and very interested in me as a person, seeing if I was the right fit for their clients and their team.

“From the first meeting, I could tell that Blumers was a family firm, and that they believed in what they were doing, which in turn provided a space I felt comfortable and supported practising in,” says Chris.

Starting at Blumers as a paralegal in August 2010, he became a solicitor just six weeks later, having earned his qualifications from the University of Canberra.

“Blumers gave me the opportunity to be brave and take on matters that might have been turned away by other firms, helping people who might not have otherwise received help.”

He became a senior solicitor eight years later. In 2020, he was featured in the prestigious Doles Guide as Injury Compensation Law Rising Star and achieved further accolades last year.

Chris states that the original appeal of Blumers still holds true 12 years later, even as the firm has grown.

“Blumers is big enough to be able to take on the harder matters, but small enough to truly care about people,” says Chris.

“Taking on the big guy, while at the same time worrying about the little guy.”

“I can’t thank Blumers enough for all their expertise in handling my case. The turnaround was within a year, and they were friendly, professional, and caring. I would particularly like to thank Chris my lawyer and his assistant Emily. Terrific job guys.”

Chris works towards securing top outcomes for his clients through a pragmatic, real-world approach. A clear communicator, he makes sure his clients don’t get lost in the jargon.

“We put complex legal issues into plain English.

“I always try to keep in mind my position of helping people through some of the worst times in life, and that my end goal is to help them navigate that time as smoothly as possible.

“I know personally that Blumers holds a similar code of practice.”

In 2021, Chris was diagnosed with bowel cancer, which he fought for nine months before achieving remission in June this year.

“Blumers supported me all the way through to recovery.

“They gave me time to get the treatment I needed, they were there to provide extra assistance when required, and did everything they could from a workplace standpoint to support me, and my clients,” says Chris.

“The joy of a family firm is the capability to make changes and adjustments for both staff and client needs. We aren’t just part of a machine, we’re people.”
