Canberra’s best coffee: Northside

No matter where you are in Canberra, you’re guaranteed to find a hot creamy cup of coffee within a 15-minute drive.

If you are in the north there are plenty of options. Here is CW’s list of best coffee on the northside:

Two Before Ten

Two Before Ten café in Aranda – also in Civic and Greenway – is my pick of the northside bean juice spots.

The décor and outdoor garden ticks all the boxes for atmosphere and comfort, while the large-scale indoor/outdoor eatery gives you enough cover to remain anonymous and do your own thing. And of course, the coffee is top notch.

But do be prepared for an unusual carpark set-up.

And don’t just trust me, Local Guide Katrina Mueller gave away all five stars:

“Such a lovely place; we were there for brunch. Designed around their urban farm means the freshest of produce. Many inside and outside areas to eat and they sell their own pickled onions and kimchee, amongst many other items. Just beautiful! Oh, and their coffee is delicious!”

Atlas Cafe is located in Marketplace Gungahlin.

Atlas Cafe

The growing Gungahlin town centre has many options for your morning jolt, but high reviews and a loyal local following make Atlas Café one to check out.

Google reviewer Caitlyn raves:

“This place is by far the best in Canberra! They have the best-tasting coffee that is made to perfection. They have a level of service you cannot get anywhere else; they truly care for their customers and are always willing to go above and beyond for them. Their food is delicious.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants a calm and welcoming environment to have a nice cup of coffee by themselves or even with some friends.”

Adore Tea Teahouse

This place in Nicholls is a Federation Square fan favourite.

With traditional teahouse appeal, Local Guide Daniel Brito says:

“Best scones I’ve ever had and they have a vegan option too, great tea and they also do a great coffee!”

Ricardo’s Cafe at Jamison Plaza.

Ricardo’s Cafe

It might be the mouth-watering cakes that draw you into Ricardo’s Café at Jamison Plaza but stick around for the coffee.

Ricardo’s is a “Jammo” institution. It’s not the most highly rated at 4.2, but that score comes from a massive 775 reviews and it has proven staying power.

Local Guide Lisa Lynch says:

“Happy welcome from staff. Clean bright comfortable cafe. Great coffee. Healthy meals. Lots of delectable desserts to choose from.”

Little Oink at the Cook Shops.

Little Oink

The Little Oink at the Cook Shops is dog-friendly, notably excellent in customer service and trendy.

Local Guide Jaala Kellam says:

“Coffee here had a fabulous aroma and taste. The smashed avo was exceptionally tasty. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was nice. There was slightly more free seating outside than in, so keep weather in mind if you’re not pre-booking a table.”
