A 48-year-old Chifley man has been charged with multiple offences following a short pursuit in Molonglo and Weston Creek yesterday 13 June.
About 9:40am yesterday morning a silver Holden Astra with no rear registration plate and an incorrect front registration plate was engaged by police and failed to stop.
The Astra proceeded along John Gorton Drive at speed and then travelled along Cotter Road.
Soon after, the Astra lost control near Dunrossil Drive, entered the median strip, collided with a street sign, sheared off a wheel and crashed into a gutter near the Dudley St intersection.
The driver fled the scene however he was apprehended in nearby bushes after being pursued by police.
The 48-year-old Chifley man has been charged with; fail to stop, reckless driving, enter intersection against red light, drive while disqualified, use unregistered and uninsured vehicle, use incorrect registration plate, possess knife in public, possess drug of dependence, obstruct a Territory official and possession of stolen property.
He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today. Â
Items located in the vehicle are believed to have been recently stolen from building sites.
