Drink driver with child in car crashes in Downer

A 32-year-old high-range drink driver with her child in the car has collided with a set of traffic lights in Downer overnight.

About 6.30pm last night, Tuesday 19 July, emergency services were called to a single vehicle collision on Phillip Avenue in Downer.

A  Subaru SUV had attempted to perform an illegal u-turn at the intersection when it collided heavily with a traffic light.

The 32-year-old female driver from Watson was breath tested at the scene, later returning a breath analysis reading of 0.261

Neither the woman or her child were injured in the collision.

She was arrested and charged with executing a U-Turn at Intersection (where not permitted) and drive with a prescribed concentration of alcohol (Level 4).

Police remind drivers not to drink and drive – the chances of a collision are greatly increased with each drink consumed prior to driving.
