Family raising funds for Shane Watson funeral

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Shane Watson, the 33-year-old Bonython man whose body was found in bushland near the Tuggeranong Parkway on Friday 28 April.

ACT Policing reported Mr Watson as missing on 16 April and issued a further urgent plea on 18 April.

The fundraising page has been set up by Kristie Watson and Debra Watson (Mr Watson’s family) to give Shane “the memorial he deserves”.

The fundraising goal is $10,000, and as at Thursday morning 4 May, they have raised $3,178 through 56 donations.

“At this stage we do not have any answers about what has happened to Shane. And we are really struggling to come to terms with our lose of Shane, as we also lost Shane’s brother Nick less then 3 years ago at the age of 27,” Kristie and Debra write.

“Shane’s father Michael has also been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer not too long ago and has been unable to work due to his poor health, which makes things even harder on our family.

“We are seeking some support to help give Shane Watson the memorial he deserves, to honour his memory and say our last goodbye’s. Shane did not have a funeral fund because he was only 33.

“Shane was extremely loved by many, he had a big heart and helped many of his friends and loved ones. He was always kind and caring.

“And deserved so much more in his short young life.

“He will be forever missed by family and friends.”
