‘Ugly Delicious’
Monster Kitchen and Bar at Ovolo Nishi have taken an innovative approach to their new ‘ugly delicious’ menu, showcasing seasonal ingredients from local and smallholder farmers. “With the bushfires severely impacting livestock and meat production, we’re shifting towards regional suppliers and farming communities … Supporting them allows us to be sustainable as possible,” says Executive Chef Travis Goodlet. Complementing Monster’s inventive menu, a new Martini Cart offers table-side craft cocktails, guiding visitors through a bespoke martini creation involving lush herbs, add-ins and a custom recipe card gift.

For the love of gin!
Gin lovers rejoice! First Edition are hosting their ‘For the love of gin’ event, where guests will have the opportunity to learn from Tim from Canberra Distillery about how gin is made and play with different botanicals in a hands-on experience. All that learning is hungry work, so while guests immerse themselves in the world of gin, they’ll dine on a three-course gin-inspired feast, made from regional produce, paired with First Edition’s Signature Gin cocktails. Attendees will also go in the draw to win a full-size bottle of First Edition’s gin. Oh, and there’ll also be an Instagram-worthy garnish wall for that perfect social media post!
‘For the love of gin’, Friday 28 February from 6pm at First Edition, 65 Northbourne Ave, Canberra. Tickets: $125 (plus booking fee) via bit.ly/FEGinPR
