Four juveniles who last night allegedly stole a car at knife-point were arrested three hours later by ACT Policing, Monday 19 April.

Police allege that during the theft at about 7.50pm yesterday, a woman was attacked in a northern Canberra suburb and her car was stolen by three young people.

The victim was allegedly struck twice in the head with a laptop, had a knife held against her throat, and was hit by the car as the alleged offenders drove off.

Police believe the car was driven to a nearby bus stop where a fourth juvenile took the driver’s seat.

A few hours later at about 10.45pm, police received a report of a car crash on Fairbairn Avenue, Campbell, and subsequently arrested the four young people nearby.

Three were charged with aggravated robbery in company, riding in or driving a motor vehicle without consent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.

Two faced the ACT Children’s Court today, 20 April, and the third will face the ACT Children’s Court next fortnight on 3 May.

The fourth juvenile was charged with riding or driving a motor vehicle without consent and being an unlicenced driver who had never held a licence, and faced the ACT Children’s Court today.
