Campbell community cares

The Campbell community has come together to assist the tiny rural community of Nerrigundah, 20km west of Bodalla, NSW, which was impacted by bushfires. A sold out trivia night was held on Saturday 18 January with a second event planned for Saturday 1 February 6pm for 7pm at The Pedlar (65 Constitution Avenue, Campbell). Cost: $20 per head. To book, contact The Pedlar. In addition to the trivia night, a silent auction is also being held. Online bidding is expected to go until 31 January. Stroke recovery group

The Monaro Region Stroke Recovery Group will meet on Friday 24 January 10.30am-12.30pm at the Queanbeyan Kangaroo Leagues Club, 74 Stuart Street, Crestwood NSW. The group meets regularly on fourth Fridays, monthly, to share a chat and a cuppa with friendly others who have ‘been there’ with a stroke, to learn about and keep up to date with stroke research and services, and to create connections. This month neurologist and stroke specialist, Dr Angelos Sharobeam, will speak on the future of stroke care and answer some questions. Canberra Rod and Kustom Krooze

Organised by the Canberra Hot Rod Association, with the support of other local clubs, the Canberra Rod and Kustom Krooze will be held in Canberra on 24-27 January. A Show ‘n’ Shine event will be held at Vikings Erindale Park on Sunday 26 January 10.30am-1.30pm. Entry is by donation with all money raised going to Motor Neurone Disease NSW/ACT.

Coffee/ Op shop

The next Coffee / Op shop event at the Christ Church Hawker (corner Beetaloo Street and Belconnen Way, Hawker) will be held on Saturday 1 February 9am-12pm. There will be trash and treasure, pre-loved clothes, second-hand books and a well-stocked cake stall. Free tea, coffee and cake to visitors. Everybody welcome. Enquiries: 6254 2782.

Learn snooker

The Billiards and Snooker Association of the ACT (BSAACT) invites women who would like to learn snooker to a coaching clinic (four sessions) starting on Sunday 9 February 2-4pm. The clinic will be conducted by BSAACT’s accredited coach. Following the clinic, participants will have the opportunity to join the Women’s Bluebell Snooker Group. March On for Soldier On

Soldier On Australia is calling on Australians to conquer a ‘Kokoda challenge’ in honour of Australian contemporary veterans and their families during the month of March. The March On Fundraiser calls upon participants to walk 96 km during the month of March, with a choice of three different challenges each of varying difficulty and time-demand – The Hill, The Mountain or The Pinnacle. Psychological support

A free psychological support service has launched for veterinary and wildlife carers treating the millions of wildlife and livestock impacted by the fires. The initiative is being led by veterinarian wellbeing charity, Love Your Pet Love Your Vet, who have partnered with Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. (AAPi) to connect those caring for animals on the frontline with volunteer registered psychologists. The free counselling services will be offered over the phone and online via Skype or Zoom.
