After multiple search warrants, a 30-year-old Red Hill man has been charged with 156 counts of obtaining property by deception, and 78 counts of false representation of a Commonwealth official.
Police will allege that between 2016 and 2018 the man obtained more than $700,000 from a person known to him, through various deceptive means including falsely representing himself to be an employee of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.
Police executed multiple search warrants throughout the course of the investigation, including one at the man’s residence in February 2020.
During the investigation, a Mitsubishi Triton and three horses were seized in accordance with the Confiscation of Criminal Assets Act 2003.
The man was due to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today, Thursday 2 July.
