A man injured in a single-vehicle truck crash in NSW’s Murrumbidgee region overnight has been airlifted to Canberra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
About 11.30pm on Tuesday 11 January, emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway at Darlington Point, about 160km north-west of Wagga Wagga, after a prime mover, towing two empty trailers, had left the roadway and hit a tree.
Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended the scene, alongside firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service as well as the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association.
The driver and sole occupant – a 30-year-old man – was freed from the prime mover and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries. He remains in a stable condition.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
As inquiries continue, NSW Police are appealing to anyone who may have information or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
