Man on bail charged after assaulting woman in Narrabundah

A 42-year-old man has been charged following the alleged assault of a woman during an incident in Narrabundah yesterday.

At approximately 5:30pm on Monday 13 January, witnesses reported to police that the male driver of a Nissan Pulsar was repeatedly striking a female passenger while the vehicle was parked on Goyder Street.

Police allege the man then took the womanโ€™s phone, smashed it on the ground, and resumed assaulting her before driving away.

Officers later located the Nissan in Oโ€™Malley and arrested the man at a nearby residence. He was found to be in breach of his bail conditions.

The man has been charged with aggravated common assault and aggravated property damage and is scheduled to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 14 January.
