Man with meat cleaver tries to rob Belco Hungry Jacks

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted robbery at Hungry Jacks in Belconnen on Saturday 31 December 2022.  

About 10.40pm, a man allegedly armed with a meat cleaver entered the restaurant on Emu Bank and demanded money.  

A short time later, the man fled the scene on foot empty handed. No one was injured during the incident.  

The man was subsequently arrested about 10.30pm on Sunday, 1 January 2023, and is expected to face court today (Monday, 2 January 2023).  

Police have already spoken to a number of witnesses, however would still like to speak to anyone else who witnessed the incident who has not yet spoken to police.
