New facilities at St Joseph’s Primary School

St Joseph’s Primary School, O’Connor, has new and refurbished classrooms thanks to Commonwealth funding.

Alicia Payne MP, Member for Canberra, today opened the four new classrooms, as well as four refurbished classrooms and activity area.

“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers, and students at St Joseph’s Primary School with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach, and learn,” Ms Payne said.

Ms Payne said the new facilities would benefit the students currently at St Joseph’s Primary School, as well as the many students who will follow in future years.

“The teachers, staff, and students at St Joseph’s Primary School have built a strong and positive school community, and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” Ms Payne said.

Work on the development project was delivered with Australian Government funding of $1 million through the Capital Grants Program, which provides funding to non-government primary and secondary school communities to improve infrastructure, if they do not have enough capital resources.

“The Australian Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those in St Joseph’s Primary School, O’Connor, get the best possible education,” Ms Payne said.

“Our Government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or to find a job.”
