The ACT Government has opened a new drive-through COVID-19 testing site in the southside suburb of Kambah today (Thursday 30 July), in response to “sustained high demand” for testing.
The new COVID-19 testing site will operate as a drive-through service only, in the northern carpark of Jenke Circuit in Kambah. It will be open from 9.30am-5pm, seven days a week, with no requirement for an appointment.
The announcement comes as the ACT once again recorded no new cases today. 109 people in Canberra have now recovered from the virus, leaving just one active case remaining in the Territory. Over 50,000 negative test results have now been recorded.
Canberrans were once again reminded not to travel to areas in NSW where outbreaks are occurring – NSW reported 18 new cases in the last 24 hours.
The Public Health Direction remains in place for affected locations in NSW, which legally requires anyone who has been in some of the affected locations identified by NSW Health, to self-quarantine for 14 days from the date they were there, even if they do not have any symptoms.
Anyone who attended the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club from Thursday 16 July to Friday 17 July is also required to self-quarantine, and have been asked to contact ACT Health on 6207 7244 and get tested for COVID-19, even if you have no symptoms.
The ACT Government has also advised anyone who has visited locations identified by NSW Health to follow the advice being provided by the New South Wales authorities.
The ACT update comes after Victoria recorded its highest number of new cases since the pandemic began, and its deadliest day. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews this morning reported 723 new cases and 13 new deaths overnight.
