Nominations open for 2023 ACT Book of the Year

Last week, Lucy Neave’s novel Believe in Me was declared the 2022 ACT Book of the Year. Nominations are now open for the 2023 ACT Book of the Year Award.

The ACT Book of the Year Award recognises quality contemporary literary works including fiction, non-fiction, and poetry by Canberra authors published in the previous calendar year.

The ACT Book of the Year Award rewards excellence in literature with prizes of $10,000 for the winner, $2,000 for any highly commended books, and $1,000 for each short listed book.

An independent judging panel considers nominations, and recommends a shortlist and winning author to the ACT Minister for the Arts, Tara Cheyne.

Ms Cheyne encouraged all ACT authors to put forward nominations for their latest book.

“This is not only an opportunity for our authors to be acknowledged for their talent and hard work, but also to promote the high quality of our local writing community overall and inspire new authors to bring their creative ideas to reality, and start writing now.”

Nominations for the 2023 ACT Book of the Year will close at 5pm on Thursday, 15 June.
