Anyone in the ACT who visited a NSW COVID-19 exposure site must quarantine for 14 days, ACT Health has announced today.
Health authorities have urged people who had been to the areas of concern at the dates and times specified to contact ACT Health, get tested for COVID-19 and quarantine for 14 days from the date they were last at the location, even if they test negative. They will also be required to complete an online declaration form.
As well, non-residents who have visited exposure locations must have an approved exemption to enter the ACT prior to travel, with exceptions to be granted only in “exceptional circumstances”, and adhere to quarantine restrictions.
ACT residents currently outside of the Territory should follow the instructions of health authorities in the jurisdiction they are in.
The new requirements come after a confirmed COVID-19 case from Melbourne visited Goulburn and the Jervis Bay region in NSW last week.
NSW Health said the person visited a number of venues on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 May, which include Coles Vincentia, Hyams Beach, and Trapper’s Bakery and Coles Express Big Merino in Goulburn, with the list of venues likely to be updated.
Authorities are in the process of increasing testing capacity in the area, which includes a pop-up drive-through testing clinic in Huskisson NSW.
The positive case reported the onset of symptoms on Tuesday 25 May and was tested on Monday 31 May.
Victoria’s stay-at-home measures came into effect on Thursday 27 May, and today were extended for another seven days for Greater Melbourne in an attempt to quash the latest outbreak.
ACT travel requirements relating to Victoria were set to remain in place until midnight tomorrow, Thursday 3 June, with ACT Health to make further announcements tomorrow following the extension of the lockdown.
