Prime land in Woden Town Centre hits the market

ACT’s Suburban Land Agency has released a significant block for sale in bustling Woden Town Centre, going on the market earlier this week.

Situated between Matilda Street, Bowes Street, and Callum Street, ‘Woden Village’ promises to significantly boost the housing supply in the Territory.

With plans for a mixed-use precinct, the project aims to accommodate up to 200 dwellings, including 20 affordable housing units and 10 community dwellings.

Additionally, there will be a designated Commercial Land Area spanning 12,946sqm.

Chief Executive Officer of the Suburban Land Agency, John Dietz, said the local community would be consulted to ensure the block aligns with the vision for Woden Town Centre.

“[Woden Town Centre] is a thriving mixed-use community that delivers the best in urban living by successfully integrating opportunities to work, live and learn,” he said.

The site has been released for sale through a design-based Request for Tender. Tenders will be required to submit designs for the site that respond to a Place Design Brief co-designed by the community, which was made available in April of this year.

According to the Suburban Land Agency, any future development on the site will be required to maintain the current number of publicly available parking spaces.

Furthermore, the successful tenderer will be responsible for the development of an open public space along Matilda Street, as outlined in the Phillip Precinct Map and Code from 2018.
