Protests have continued today in Canberra, with thousands gathering at Old Parliament House to demand action to end COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
The crowd marched up Northbourne Avenue, over Commonwealth Bridge and to Old Parliament House with plans to head to the Australian Parliament House later in the day.
Videos posted to social media showed people in the crowd holding signs reading ‘Freedom’ and ‘No mandatory vaccination’ with plenty of red ensign flags on display as well.
ACT Policing have urged Canberrans to avoid the city centre as the mandate protests stretch into their sixth day.
Yesterday, police moved in on the illegal camp of protesters, who had been staying on the grounds of the parliamentary triangle since earlier this week.
They also arrested a 44-year-old man after they seized a loaded rifle from his car.
The Canberra protests have been inspired by a similar movement in Canada that has seen thousands on truckies and other Canadians head towards Ottawa to protest strict mandates and restrictions.
