Public comments on ACT electoral boundaries close Tuesday

The public has until midnight on Tuesday, 14 March to comment on the public suggestions lodged for changes to the ACT Legislative Assembly’s electoral boundaries, the ACT Electoral Commissioner, Damian Cantwell AM CSC, said today.

The ACT Legislative Assembly’s electoral boundaries are being redrawn in preparation for the 19 October 2024 election.

The Redistribution Committee received 19 suggestions as part of the public suggestion phase of the Redistribution process.

These suggestions are available for public inspection on the ACT Electoral Commission website.

The public can write comments on the suggestions. Comments should be lodged with the Redistribution Committee via the Elections ACT website, or emailed to [email protected].

After the comments period closes, the Redistribution Committee will consider the public suggestions and comments, then publish a proposed redistribution of the ACT’s electoral boundaries. The public will then have 28 days in which to object to the proposed boundaries.

Complete electoral enrolment statistics and further detailed information is available from the ACT Electoral Commission’s website at www.elections.act.gov.au and from the office of Elections ACT at the Nara Centre, 3 Constitution Avenue, Canberra City.
