Over the next two weeks the Green Machine has the opportunity to prove their premiership credentials with clashes against the Roosters and Rabbitohs.
However, the task will be made harder with John Bateman out for 6-8 weeks after it was confirmed he will require surgery on an eye-socket fracture. The Raiders take on the Roosters on Sunday 12 May at Suncorp Stadium as part of the NRL’s Magic Round.
Brumbies beat the Blues
The Brumbies sit second in the Australian Conference after a five-point win over the Auckland Blues at GIO Stadium Canberra on Saturday 4 May.
Brumbies hooker Folau Fainga’a scored three tries for the match as the Brumbies fought back for the 26-21 victory.

Giants blow away St Kilda
In the AFL, an eight-goal opening term set a winning platform for the GWS Giants as they defeated St Kilda by 44-points at UNSW Canberra Oval on Saturday 4 May.
GWS forward Jeremy Cameron was on song, kicking six goals for the match as the Giants finished 18.6.114 to St Kilda’s 10.10.70 in front of a 12,633 strong crowd.
Of concern to GWS were injuries to Adam Kennedy (head knock) and Aidan Corr (ankle).
Brave dealt first loss
The CBR Brave recorded their first loss of the Australian Ice Hockey League season, going down 4-3 to the Sydney Bears on Saturday 4 May at the Brave Cave, Phillip.
The CBR Brave were dealt a reality check after they gave up a two-goal advantage in the third period to fall to last year’s runners-up the Sydney Bears in front of a sell-out home crowd.

Bates family tops podium
Local racing family, the Bates, had an ideal start to the 2019 Australian Rally Championship claiming a one-two finish for the Toyota Gazoo racing team in the Forest Rally held in WA on 5-7 April.
Taking 13 out of 18 stage wins, Harry Bates and co-driver John McCarthy finished in a commanding position to take both heat wins and overall victory in their brand-new Yaris AP4. Hot on his heels was younger brother Lewis Bates and co-driver Anthony McLoughlin in their first outing in the turbocharged Yaris, taking four stage wins and overall second place.
