Skincare is the 2020 trend, and there are a couple of ingredients that are having a major moment in the spotlight.

Niacinamide: A hero in the skincare game, Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3. According to Desiree Stordahl, senior research and education manager at skincare brand Paulaโ€™s Choice, Niacinamide is a โ€œversatile ingredientโ€ that works to โ€œminimise enlarged pores and smooth out rough, ‘orange-peel’ textured skinโ€. โ€œAt the same time, it has the ability to brighten skin, fight wrinkles and reduce moisture loss by helping skin improve its natural production of ceramides. When used in high concentrations, the results show up quickly, making Niacinamide an impressive solution for those times when skin needs to hit the reset button.โ€

Vitamin C: Another favourite ingredient of those with glowing skin, Vitamin C is a โ€œhighly effective antioxidantโ€. Cosmetic chemist and founder of cult Aussie skincare brand Biologi, Ross Macdougald, says โ€œVitamin C is one of the best antioxidants to diminish hyperpigmentation, fine lines and visible sun-damage, as well as promote collagen productionโ€.ย  โ€œItโ€™s a potent antioxidant that can neutralise free radicals and can aid your skinโ€™s natural regeneration process, helping to repair damaged skin cells. Because of this, itโ€™s a well-known brightening agent that encourages cell renewal and can be instrumental in reducing scars and spots.โ€
