The Lunar New Year will be celebrated on Saturday 10 February and is shaping up to be a busy season for Canberra’s only non-profit, volunteer-run lion dance troupe, Prosperous Mountain Dragon and Lion Dance (aka Canberra Lion Dance) - especially as 2024 marks the Year of the Dragon.
Lunar New Year is the most important celebration on the Chinese calendar however celebrations occur in other East Asian countries such as Vietnam and South Korea. China welcomes the Year of the Rabbit while Vietnam welcomes in the Year of the Water Cat.
