Ever since a street library was established in Florey, alongside Neighbourhood Watch, crime in the area has dropped significantly. Street librarian Rachael Thorpe believes the new, stronger sense of community has helped to reduce crime.
ACT Policing and Neighbourhood Watch are holding Project Safe Plate in Holt today with the aim of reducing number-plate theft by providing free tamper-proof screws to motorists. Â
Despite her own ongoing battle with cancer, Rachael Thorpe remains a positive influence in her community and has played a key role in the resurgence of Florey Neighbourhood Watch, among other efforts.
