Vaccination certificates on the Check In CBR app

From today, your Check In CBR app can securely store and show your COVID-19 digital vaccination certificates.

You can add their certificate to the app through a secure verification process using your Express Plus Medicare App or myGov account.

“The new Check In CBR feature will make it easier for Canberrans to provide verification of their vaccination status if required,” said Rachel Stephen-Smith, ACT Minister for Health.

Canberrans told the ACT Government they wanted to demonstrate their vaccination status quickly and easily, so the Check In CBR team and Australian Government added the feature to the app.

The Check In CBR app is fully interoperable with the family of apps in Queensland, Tasmania, and the Northern Territory.

“This means Canberrans can check-in to locations in any of the four jurisdictions and show their vaccination status at the same time – it’s not just for use in Canberra,” Ms Stephen-Smith said.

Once you download your COVID-19 digital certificate to the app, a vaccination tick status will appear next to your name the next time you check in.

You can then add COVID-19 digital certificates of guests you regularly check in with, including children.

The guest can do this by signing into their myGov account and authorising to send their certificate to the Check In CBR app on your device.

There is no limit to the number of guests with COVID-19 digital certificates you can have on your Check In CBR app.

To use this new feature, update your Check In CBR app to the latest version through the Apple App store or Google Play Store.

Vaccination data sits in the Federal Australian Immunisation Register, so to integrate the COVID-19 digital certificate into your Check In CBR app:

1.         Have a myGov account with your Medicare connected

2.         Once logged in to myGov, select the Proof of COVID-19 vaccination quick link which will take you to your Medicare account.

3.         Select ‘View history’ under Immunisation history

4.         Select ‘Share with check in app’

5.         Select the Check In CBR and provide consent to download

Individuals not eligible for Medicare, or unable to get proof online, can find more information on the Services Australia website, including other ways to show COVID-19 vaccination proof.

The ACT Government has no plans to make proof of vaccination mandatory across sectors such as hospitality, Ms Stephen-Smith said.
