While the pandemic took democracy sausages off the menu when Canberrans last headed to the polls for the ACT elections in October 2020, they’re back for the upcoming federal election.

So, if you’re wondering where you can cast your vote on Saturday 21 May and snag a democracy sausage while you’re at it, here’s our list so far. We’re open to additions and updates, so if you know of a polling place offering a snag, other tasty treats (curry, anyone?) or even plant stalls on the side, please tell us in the messages below or email [email protected] with the details.

MoAD at Old Parliament House: An official AEC polling place, MoAD will be a pre-polling place on Saturday 14 May and from Monday 16 to Friday 20 May. Queanbeyan East Public School P&C will be cooking up democracy sausages and bacon egg rolls along with a bake sale and cold drinks. Bakers Delight Queanbeyan are donating bread, and all barbecue items are gluten-free; gluten-free bread will also be available. 8am-2pm or until sold out. QEPS school, Yass Road, Queanbeyan

Queanbeyan Presbyterian Church Hall will have a sausage sizzle by Lions Club of Queanbeyan, fundraising for Ukraine refugees and displaced persons. 8.30am-3.30pm. 2 Morriset St, Queanbeyan
