2 cars stolen from Canberra homes used in serious crimes

Two cars stolen in separate burglaries at homes in Ngunnawal and Fisher have been used by the offenders to burgle ACT clubs in Weston Creek, Charnwood and Kambah.

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to the aggravated burglaries and a robbery that occurred yesterday – and is again reminding residents to secure their homes.

Early Wednesday morning, 29 March, two homes in the suburbs of Ngunnawal and Fisher were burgled while the residents slept inside. In both cases the offenders entered the homes through unsecured doors and stole wallets, handbags and car keys.

A black Audi A3 was stolen from the home in Ngunnawal and a maroon Honda Odyssey was stolen from the Fisher home.

Soon after, the Audi A3 was used by persons who burgled the Weston Creek Labor Club and the Ginninderra Labor Club. Later, at the Burns Club, the Honda Odyssey was used to damage entry doors to gain access to the premises. The offenders allegedly threatened an employee who was present in the club.

The stolen Honda Odyssey was used to ram entry doors at the Burns Club, where offenders allegedly threatened an employee.

Police are seeking any dash cam footage of either the Audi A3 or the Honda Odyssey between 3.00am and 7.00am on Wednesday or information relating to the current location of either vehicle.

Police are also reminding homeowners to ensure their properties are properly secured. Offenders are seeking out homes that are easy to gain access to in order to steal and vehicles and other items such as phones, wallets and handbags. As occurred yesterday – these vehicles are then being used to commit other more serious crimes.

Anyone who has information that can assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.  Please quote 7390409.
