Primary Schools Virtual (athletics) Challenge
Brought to you by Little Athletics ACT, this Challenge will pit students across the ACT region against each other in friendly, age and skill appropriate competition! The Challenge is based on the Little Athletics skills of running, jumping and throwing. Each school can run the program to suit its own schedule. The program will run from 5 to 23 September. GIVIT Donation of the Week: Refugee bikes and helmets

GIVIT is assisting a humanitarian settlement program in Canberra to source an assortment of adult and children’s bikes and helmets for recently arrived refugees. These bikes will assist new arrivals to move around the city at no cost while they establish new lives in Australia. These can be good-quality second-hand donations, or the purchase of new items can be funded with 100% of money received by GIVIT used to purchase bikes and helmets. KiteFest returns to Googong this Father’s Day

After a three-year hiatus, community event KiteFest is returning to Rockley Oval at Googong to celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday 4 September 11am-2pm. Families are welcome to bring kites and picnic blankets and enjoy a day outdoors celebrating both fathers and kites alike. The free event is expected to bring approximately 2,000 attendees this year. The Meat Wizard, Cinnaglaze and Googong Hogs will be selling a range of food to treat Dad, while a local DJ will be providing inflight entertainment, and the skate park will be open.

Bold Bandannas Charity Stall

Relay for Life Team, the Bold Bandannas, will be at the Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets on Saturday 3 September 8am-5pm inside Ziggy’s shop, selling our trademark homemade jams, pickles, chutneys, lemon butter, and award-winning marmalade. More info: call Jan on 6231 0761.

Yarralumla Craft Destash Market

Country Women’s Association

Gungahlin: This year, CWA Awareness Week is focusing on the need for improved maternity services and support across regional and rural NSW. To start the Week, we will hold a fundraising stall at Gungahlin Village on Saturday 3 September 9am-1pm selling handmade items including baby clothes, knitted items, rugs and gifts as well homemade cakes, biscuits, slices, jams and preserves, and the famous CWA cookbooks. Queanbeyan Evening: Our annual CWA Awareness Week campaign launch features a window display at Riverside Plaza on 1 September 9am, running for the entire month. Probus Club

Gungahlin: Our club meets at the Gungahlin Lakes Club on the first Monday of the month at 10.30am. After our meetings we have a guest speaker followed by lunch at the club. Bricks 2022

The Woden School P&C Association is holding the annual BRICKS @ The Woden School fundraising event on the weekend of 10-11 September at Woden School, Deakin. There will be a large exhibition and display by the Canberra Lego User Group plus various stalls, BBQ, raffles, Lego building competitions, face painting, etc. More info: www.thewodens.act.edu.au

Bravehearts Day

With a 25-year legacy of breaking the silence on child sexual abuse, leading Australian child protection organisation, Bravehearts, has launched its inaugural Bravehearts Day campaign to raise awareness and funds to protect children from the insidious crime of child sexual abuse – urging Australians to ‘Show their Hearts’ by registering to participate in Bravehearts Day and fundraising ahead of Friday 9 September. ‘Becoming Well’ discussion

Are you worried about someone who might be self-harming? Would you like to know more about self-harming, why and when it happens and what you can do? Clinical Director for ACT Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Dr Denise Riordan will give a presentation to understand ways to help someone who is self-harming on Thursday 8 September 7pm at Holy Covenant, 89 Dexter Street, Cook. Canberra Jung Society

At the next meeting and gathering on Friday 2 September, retired ANU lecturer Dr Richard Barz will speak about Aboriginal rock art in Australia from a Jungian perspective. Canberra Orchid Show

The annual Canberra Orchid Show comes to Ainslie Football Club on 17-18 September (Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 10am-3pm) and will feature a wide array of exotic and Australian native orchids, as well as orchid-related art. Flowering and seedling orchids and orchid growing materials will be on sale.
