Man taken to hospital following shooting in Bonner

A man was taken to hospital with a minor wound to his leg last night, Sunday 27 June, following a shooting incident at a home in Bonner.

About 5.45pm last night, police received a request to attend a residence in Roy Marika Street, Bonner following a report of a man suffering a minor wound caused by a firearm.

Police believe the incident began with at least two offenders attempting to gain entry to the residence.

After a short struggle, a single shot was fired by one of the offenders which struck the occupant in the leg. The offenders then fled the location.

The man suffered a minor wound and was transported to The Canberra Hospital for precautionary checks.

Police believe nearby residents and people walking in the street prior to the incident may have information that can assist the investigation.
