Police looking for man involved in alleged Summernats assault

ACT Policing are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man allegedly involved in an assault at Exhibition Park during Summernats on Saturday 8 January.

ACT Policing have released images of a man allegedly involved in an assault during Summernats.

The images show the man in EPIC about the time of the assault. 

About 10:30am, an 18-year-old man was assaulted in the northern side of the grandstand as he watched the Summernats burnout competition.  After a short altercation with another man unknown to him, the 18-year-old was punched in the face. He required surgery to his jaw as a result of the assault.   

The wanted man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 170cm tall, slim build, dark hair shaved on the sides, tattoos on his arms and neck, wearing light coloured shorts, white t-shirt and thongs.    

Police believe a large number of people witnessed the incident, and are asking anyone who did so, and who has not yet spoken to police to come forward. Anyone with information or footage that can assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
