Raiders star Joe Tapine claims back-to-back Meninga Medals

Canberra Raiders star Joe Tapine has capped off another great season for the Green Machine, taking home the Meninga Medal as the club’s best player in 2023.

It makes it back-to-back wins for the Kiwi International, after winning the award last season.

It was a tightly contested affair this year with Sebastian Kris finishing just two votes behind Tapine, while centre Matt Timoko rounded out the top three of voting.

Second placed Kris didn’t go home empty handed, with the utility back rewarded for his wonderful season with the NRL Coaches award.

The evening held special significance as the club paid tribute to retiring Captain Jarrod Croker whose final season in green saw him reach the 300-game milestone. The club recognised his achievements on and off the field and his incredible contribution to the club.

With the NRLW season having two matches remaining the Player of the Year was not awarded on the night and will be awarded at the end of their regular season.

The NRLW Coaches award was presented to Janelle Williams, while the NRLW Rookie of the Year was awarded to Cheyelle Robins-Reti.
