Stolen goods recovered from Kambah property

Over $100,000 worth of stolen goods – including toilet paper – that had been hoarded at a Kambah property has been recovered by ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations during the execution of a search warrant last week.

The goods were recovered as the property was scoured on the afternoon of Friday 27 March, following an investigation into an alleged recidivist property offender.

The plethora of stolen items were found scattered across the property, with the recovered goods seized on the day enough to fill two police evidence trucks.

Toilet paper, coin and stamp collections, tools, construction equipment, speakers, electrical goods, wheel rims, and sporting memorabilia is just a taste of what comprised the assortment of stolen goods.

Other items recovered included a substantial amount of whitegoods and bathroom equipment – some of which was still in the original packaging – including a 550-litre refrigerator, a bathtub, toilet suites, vanity units, basins and tiles stolen during construction site burglaries in Denman Prospect and Coombs in recent weeks.

More than a dozen pushbikes were also located at the residence, including an e-bike valued at $8,000 which had been stolen from Weston in March, and another bike valued at $6,400.

Police have already identified five victims who will be providing statements in relation to approximately $50,000 worth of property.

The alleged offender, a 32-year-old Kambah man, is currently remanded in custody on unrelated matters and additional charges will be laid when he next appears in court.

Investigations are continuing and charges against other offenders are expected.

Anyone who believes their stolen goods may be in this collection of recovered items should contact ACT Policing on 131444, and quote reference number 6514186.

Anyone with information about stolen property is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
