Tapine returns for Raiders vs Panthers blockbuster

Canberra Raiders star lock Joe Tapine has been named to return for their clash with the Penrith Panthers at BlueBet Stadium on Friday night.

Tapine missed last week’s victory over the Titans with an ankle injury but has been named at 13, shifting Ryan Sutton to the front row and Dunamis Lui dropping to the reserves list.

Sebastian Kris will remain at centre with Curtis Scott still at least a week away with a rib problem.

Interestingly, Corey Harawira-Naera has been sighted for the first time on the Raiders NRL team sheet this season, named as a reserve in number 21.

Harawira-Naera starred in the Raiders NSW Cup win over the Newtown Jets last weekend, scoring two tries in a dominant display.

Josh Papalii has also been named to start in the front row after coming off the bench last week, sending Ryan James back to the pine. Tom Starling, Siliva Havili and Iosia Soliola round out the bench spots.

The Panthers have named the same team as the one that thumped Manly 46-6 last round. They are undefeated this season and sit on top of the ladder having conceded a measly 16 points in four games.

The battle of the forwards will be electric with both teams boasting packs that have genuine claims to being the best in the NRL.
