What’s on around Canberra in April 2023

April is [almost] here and Canberra has so much great stuff to do this month, you’ll be eager to hop into it.

Easter means that the National Folk Festival returns to Exhibition Park in Canberra, on 6-10 April, with big names in music like Billy Bragg and The Waifs, and plenty of lesser-known folk acts, interactive workshops, interesting stalls and more.

The National Dinosaur Museum celebrates its 30th birthday, and everyone is invited to join the party on Saturday 8 April.

The festivals continue all month long including the Bungendore Harvest Festival on the weekend of 14-16, the Canberra Circus Festival on 18-23, the Canberra International Music Festival begins on the 23rd, while the Stomp Festival celebrates the Canberra Wine District on 29-30 April.


Holding The Man: One of Australiaโ€™s most recognisable odes to love, the story of Timothy Conigrave comes alive on stage in this Everyman Theatre production. ACT Hub, Kingston, 22 March-1 April; acthub.com.au

Reasons to be Pretty: American playwright Neil LaBute’s bristling comic drama focuses on modern-day obsession with physical appearance.
