In a see-sawing affair, which saw 15 lead changes and neither team able to gain a significant lead, the Capitals overcame a six-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to claim a two-point win over the Southside Flyers, 82-80.

Game two of the grand final series was played at the AIS Arena on Wednesday 4 March, with the result not known at time of print. If a third game is required, it will be played on Sunday 8 March at Dandenong Stadium.

The Capitals secured a place in the grand final after defeating the Melbourne Boomers 77-64 in game three of their semi-final series.
